My Story
by braincleaned inhere's where i am coming from.
i have spent over 45 years in religion.
i was deep into it, as a jw.

Great story, but sad. I can't imagine what it would be like having kids in the org.
Ironically, NOBODY would trust a surgeon who operates on the basis of scientific or medical books that are 2,000 years old.
Love this bit ^^^^
Thanks for sharing

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

Yes, and I do thank JWFACTS for his site.
Although already on the way out when I first started on jwfacts, what was great was the reassurance that it wasn't just me going nuts. Someone else had done their research, too - and far more of it!
Also liked that their was no "Christian" slant/bias. Just the facts, ma'am.

Move Around, Move Around in the Kingdumb Hall
by rebel8 intm, and instead get to know those outside one's clique.
you know, so when the great tribulationtm comes, you will have plenty of friends'tm homes to hide in.. it was one of those things that the bros got so excited over, marveling at how clever their fellow bros are, and how special their religion is to have such a witty and fittingtm little song.. we couldn't wait for the real song to play so we could see which bros would be bold and sing the move around lyrics to it instead.
oh how hilarious that was!

Ugh. I do not remember the original song. . . Wait, was it something like Move Ahead? Move ahead, move ahead to maturity; blah blah blah, blah blah blah, for we're in the min-is-try. . .
Whatever, both the original and rewrite were awful.
Only thing worse are brother's "poems" read from the stage. I think even when I was in I had to get up and go to the bathroom for those.
I think to be a JW you have to have a child like mentality, be easily pleased and go unchallenged
^^^^ so true. A simpleton.

BRAINCLEANED - not a #1 fan of the name either (but I'm not going to complain (too much)), but the idea of the whole thing and its mission is great. As far as the "marketing" aspect, I don't really see it as a marketing issue. Why?
You will NEVER EVER EVER EVER reach the mind of a cult member via marketing techniques. Never. WT has got their own marketing shit/propaganda so deeply embedded, there's no room for anything else.
As neat as the YouTube video is, no JW is going to wake up Saturaday morning, put some slick video on and go "Oh shit! I'm wrong about just about everything in my life! I must abandon my life/religion/hope/family--IMMEDIATELY!!"
Whether there's an AAWA or a WAWA or AWWWWWW you will only reach a cult member's mind on a one-two-one level; and I'm hoping that AAWA supports those of us trying to do that, as well as throw whatever they can Watchtower's way to make those bastards lives miserable.

"AAWA defines a cult as any organization, religious or otherwise, that uses mind control techniques to unduly influence its members, and has beliefs or practices that are potentially damaging thereto."
This is my favorite part about the mission statement. It calls a duck "a duck".
It's not that Watchtower is a cult because it deviates from mainstream Christianity - it's because it uses classic thought reform techniques to keep people imprisoned by heir own minds, and that's what we all really are fighting for: the minds of our loved ones.

Will AAWA Become another cult?
by His Excellency inplease sorry for english, i have only been learning for 18 months.
everyone please think about it, and beware of any initiative designed to solve "a community problem".
becasue russel also started his own cult on a similar premise like this , claiming to have all the answers to issues whose solutions seems obscured to the majority in his days, and here we are today, constantly bashing our fingers on the keyboard in a bid to finding comfort from the mess he had put all of us into.

Hey, this is BoC posting from my bathroom. . .
Well, the Wise Ones came for their Encouragement Session and just like you said, CANTLEAVE, the first thing they ask is how my personal relationship with Cedars was going. My mouth began watering; my hands got dry. . . What do I say? What do I say??!?!??!
"I gotta take a shit!"
So I've been holed up here in the bathroom about 30 minutes now and. . . . yeah, I think I just heard their car roll out of my driveway... WHEW!!!!
I think I may just start my fade from AAWA tomorrow.
BUT WHERE ELSE WILL I GO!!!?!????!???!?? ???!??!!??!???!

Oh shit! I think I'm in trouble.
This afternoon a couple of Wise Ones from my local AAWA chapter caught me eating pasta that wasn't "properly drained" at the local diner. Just got a call from the Top-of-the-Heap Wise One and he said he'd like to stop by with another Wise One and give me an impromptu Encouragement Session.
Seriously, what should I tell them? I've had my doubts about the "anti-" in the AAWA since its inception three days ago, but is that really any reason to kick me out? And sure, my pasta wasn't properly drained, but it was al dente.
Anyone with experience, your thoughts are welcome.
